pecorino crotonese cheese
Black Mission Figs have a delicate, purple-black skin and are known to be sweeter than honey if eaten at the proper ripeness. They can be eaten raw or cooked and are delicious by themselves, sliced on sandwiches, chopped and added to rice, stuffed with cheeses, wrapped with prosciutto or dipped in chocolate.
Avoid hard, dry figs. Select Black Mission Figs that are fresh smelling and fairly soft. Ripen at room temperature or lay a single layer on paper towels, cover with plastic and refrigerate a few days. Figs may also be sealed in a plastic bag and frozen for up to six months.
Available in store now. They won’t last long.
