Spring officially arrives in March and spring fever is in the air. Sometimes foiled by snow and colder weather, Canadians are more than ready to welcome the warmer weather and say good bye to winter. March is also a transition month for parts of Italy as the snow begins to melt and fields are planted with spring and summer produce.
What’s in Season in Italy in March
In March you’ll find the last of the winter vegetables and arrival of leeks and beginning of artichokes. Citrus is still plentiful and flavourful, apples, lettuce and spinach, and celeriac. Varieties of cabbage are available all year round including Romanesco broccoli (also known as Roman cauliflower).
This month in the store we will have artichokes, baby artichokes, Romanesco broccoli and cara cara oranges in additional to all our other regular produce.
